Driving home - evening

Driving home - evening
Oil on linen panel
7"x7"
SOLD

I initially chose this subject because of the wide range of values it offered but as I worked I became more intrigued by the mystery of the twilight hour on an open road. The trees began to take on a life of their own and in the distance the last of the fading light appeared on the horizon.

I feel the wind in my face. There is such lovely color and so much action in the painting. Really lovely.

I see clouds clearing to blue sky after coursing through a white-knuckle thunderstorm. I can smell the rain. Amazing work.

You paint with real feeling. This a beautiful, moody painting featuring richly colorful grays, and a message that is both melancholy and quietly joyful. -But maybe that's just me!

A very beautiful painting, Steven. Apart from the mood, I love the little touches of purple and light blue on the right side.
