Into the woods #2
Acrylic on linen panel
8"x8"
SOLD
I’m not usually a fan of acrylics but after discovering the work of two gifted painters working in this medium, I decided to give them another try. I chose to do a new version of the image in the last post and found that I really enjoyed the looseness and spontaneity I was able to achieve. Knowing that the paint would dry quickly freed me up to take greater risks.
By the way, those two artists worth checking out are Frank Gonzales and Harry Stooshinoff. Both are doing incredible work.

Hi Steven,
They're doing incredible work,
and so are you. Love this.

What a beautiful grey snow day. I really like the texture and the licks of color on the fringes.
Thanks for the links!

best.

Thanks for the shout! I'm really digging these. So what do you think of acrylic eh? Good stuff. Keep these up man.

Thanks, Steven! I like your new work in acrylic and I love the oils also. I often feel I should be using oils more, but the solvents get to me after all these years.
Thanks to everyone for the comments. I definitely plan to continue experimenting with the acrylics. I like to work in layers and spontaneously at the same time and acrylics seem to lend themselves to the process. I love the rich look of oils but often get impatient with the drying time (and the brush cleaning).
Wow..I do like this and the one previous too.
The brush strokes and palette are just mind blowing.
Best Regards
a gem. limited values and strong.
Beautiful piece! Mike
