A Winter's day 1.15.09
Oil on gessobord
6"x6"
$125

After not painting for awhile it took me a few tries to get this one right. I'm learning that with this type of gestural painting it's important to warm up first, just as you would before exercising. Sometimes it feels like you've forgotten how to paint but with patience it comes back to you.

I love that palette....
I love the brush strokes...
I have not painted for a while myself and I know what you mean!
Patience is everything.
Best regards.

A really wonderful painting Steven, successful on all levels. Good to hear your comments about "warming up". Sounds like you have some good advice there.

Wonderful Steve! I love your ability to convey landscapes with simple abstract shapes. It's also good to see that some are selling. I think it's difficult to gain favor with a general viewing audience with less representational work. But at the same time, I believe that those with true interest really are devoted followers!

Of all the paintings presented today, this is far and away my favorite. Painterly and mood conveying. Just wonderful.

And temperatures below zero in VERMONT..warm colors to render a chilly scene. Really exquisite Steven!
