The white house
Oil on panel
7"x7"
SOLD

It is indeed a time of hope but with all the excitement about the inauguration it's important not to lose site of all those around the country who are suffering. With that in mind, I did this Vermont portrait.

This does not look so bleak as your text would indicate. That dash of pink enlivens every other color in the piece.

Maybe bleak is how you felt but, to me, the painting does not say bleak. Love the brush strokes and your work in general.

I adore Burlington and went to visit last winter when we had no snow here in southern MA......there are so many who are suffering and I fear many more will soon feel the sting of this economy. I celebrate today and pray to have enough patience to give our new president some time. I really like your work, its looseness and feeling.

Love your work! Beautiful painting! I would love to see you do more watercolor paintings - it's been a while since you've posted any.

Just a lovely piece, green and strong, and the heartiness of our country (don't mind me I am very carried away today!!)
I agree about that pink stroke!

Thanks for everyone's comments. I did set out to paint a fairly bleak scene... a plain house in disrepair but I couldn't resist the dash of pink. It enlivens the painting but maybe takes away from the overall message. In any case, the painting is done and the pink will remain.

I love this little house, set out there on the green. When can I move in? And of course I love that there's bubble gum and licorice waiting for me at the door!
