With Autumn just around the corner I thought I'd get ready by doing this painting. It's based on a photo I took last year. What really caught my attention was the slice of bright green grass, made possible by last Fall's rains.

This is the last of the quinces I did a couple of weeks ago. To my eye, it's the most painterly of the three, probably due to a more careful treatment of the edges. Feel free to let me know if you have a favorite.

Here I was trying to capture the shifting light on the fields and road as I approached Bennington College in Vermont. We've had a lot of rain this summer and the fields are unusually lush with supersaturated colors.
