One of the unexpected pleasures of starting to paint again is rediscovering how much I enjoy drawing. I did this study based on a photograph I took. I've also done a digital version which can be seen here.

About once a week I'm going to post paintings that are a little larger or required more time than the work usually shown here. I did this one last winter, based on a digital image I had created earlier. There are several layers of oil and wax and you can see on the right where the wax cracked as the paint dried. Rather than try to repair it I decided to leave it as it is.
